Rio Strada Racing, presented by www.JBL.com, is a Sacramento based, primarily Masters, racing team. Rio Strada has been been in existence since the 1980s. The composition of the team members changes from year to year. In the early years, Rio Strada was a Cat 1 and Cat 2 powerhouse with riders who collectively placed in the top 6 of almost every race in Northern California. Notable past members included Mike Sayers, formerly of Health Net/Maxxis Pro Cycling Team and now with BMC Racing. Mike was one of the early leaders of Rio Strada Racing. Vince Gee, Head Mechanic for the Discovery Domestic Racing Team, was another early Rio Strada member. Since those early glory days, the team has evolved into a collection of mostly masters, and senior Cat 2, 3, and 4 racers including a few women racers. Rather than the pursuit of a professional cycling career, most current members of Rio now have work and families to factor into their racing schedules. For the past four years, we have averaged 25 - 35 team members. Our team not only races in Road and Criterium Races, but also Cyclocross and Mountain Bike Races too.
